Wister in Old City Philadelphia is a modern and urban neighborhood BYOB. Proprietor Joseph Scorsone has been a Philadelphia local for decades his inspiration for Wister came from his deep love for Philly and fresh food. Wister’s menu is inspired by John Wister the Philadelphia legend that the restaurant is named after who was fisherman and horticulturalists. The always fresh menu is seafood focused and contains farm pure produce in his honor. The boldly flavored menu which changes seasonally has modern twists to familiar flavors. Wister is also vegan-friendly and has seasonal vegan options as well. We pride ourselves in our daily delivered seafood, our locally sourced ingredients, warm and friendly staff, and astounding service. Even our house Focaccia bread is made from scratch daily. Wister is perfect  or dinner with friends, date night, dining alone, or a large get together. This BYOB is also perfect for private parties and events where we custom design your event’s menu to your specifications.

Wister BYOB earned an enthusiastic “Two Bells: Very Good” review from The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Craig LaBan, who wrote that the cuisine has a distinctive perspective, dabbling in exotic flavors, with excellent ingredients put into unusual combinations turned with some contemporary techniques.” He was equally positive about the friendly service: the staff is “friendly…which matters,” and he concluded that “mastering the art of the whole chicken can be the restaurant equivalent of serving its patrons the ultimate comfort fit,” cleverly interpreting businessman owner Joseph Scorsone’s experience as a shoe salesman into his current success operating a restaurant gem in Philadelphia’s historic Old City neighborhood.
